BTW, phantomik: the original BeOS Icons never had any kind of anti-alias, so I figure these must be redrawed versions, not coversions of the original icons. Therefore, these Icons would be (c)vasszoltan, and Palm (the current owners of Be's IP), even if they cared, would not have any claim to them. But IANAL applies, of course :)

obviously. :)
Under US Copyright law derivative works are copyright the original author/artist. In this case if the new icons are simply redrawn versions of the old icons they are (probably) considered derivative works, and therefor distributing them is (technically) in breach of US copyright law. This is the reason software development houses have clean rooms for program development. One team is allowed to look at the source material for the original application (which the company is attempting to duplicate) and they in turn _describe_ the general flow of the program to the actuall development team. This way the people who actually do the programing have never seen the original code, and the company whose app they have cloned would have a really hard time winning a copyright case against them.
To make a long description short: These icons are possibly copyright Palm, it all depends on exactly what assets they bought from Be Inc.
