Description:

this theme is the default in
Ubuntu Ultimate 1.8 ,info and download:
http://ultimateedition.info/Ultimate_Edition_1.8/

A very very overglossed theme I made....
I was unsure if I wanted to release it but
I remembered some people liking my other
themes...... Whatever , go here to fix
any browser font problems (for most browsers):
http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Darkfix+%28+easy+fix+for+browsers+%29?content=74504
it works like a charm and is very easy to use!
Big thanks to code933k for making it!

package contains gtk and metacity themes
(controls and window borders)

oh, and you can tweak the colors using
gnome theme manager.

!!!!IMPORTANT!!!!!

To install:
1.Download the file to your desktop
2.Right click the file and select extract here
3.open a terminal and run this command:
sudo cp -r $HOME/Desktop/Overglossed /usr/share/themes

4.Open the theme manager, you can now
see the Overglossed theme as a theme,
when you click on it , it suggests
taners amazing wallpaper he made for this theme!!
click apply to apply the wallpaper!

the icon theme it suggests is this one:

http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/black-white+2+Style?content=72619

any problems with the install let me know!!!!

Any suggestions and feedback very welcome!

for the metacity code I used the codebase

of scaled black murrina made by twigsby.
everything else made by me from scratch.

HUGE thanks to artist taner for is exceptionally
beautiful artwork wallpaper!!!!

Hello Robert,
I would love to know how to make the semi-transparent panels as yours. Can you teach me the trick please?

Thanks

if you use compiz then:

in ccsm - general options - opacity

(name=gnome-panel | type=Menu | PopupMenu | DropdownMenu)

and transparency = 80

in ccsm - blur - alpha blur windows

(name=gnome-panel | name=usp | type=Menu | PopupMenu | DropdownMenu)

blur = gaussian
alpha blur = true (checked)

hope this helps!

I am sorry Rob I meant the panel bars. In the cssm i have already set in opacity (type=Menu | PopupMenu | DropdownMenu) 83, so the drop-down menu are already semitransparent. I am using slickness.

Not sure what you mean.....

well the panel (ones on top and bottom) seem
to be working just fine so I suppose it's the
transparency on them you are wondering
about.... you need compiz-fusion for that
(or compiz will do , but I use compiz-fusion)

If you have that installed, sure you have,
just do this in ccsm:

in ccsm - general options - opacity

(name=gnome-panel | type=Menu | PopupMenu | DropdownMenu)

and transparency = 80

in ccsm - blur - alpha blur windows

(name=gnome-panel | name=usp | type=Menu | PopupMenu | DropdownMenu)

blur = gaussian
alpha blur = true (checked)

this will give you transparent menues and
panels :)

hope this helps

The theme you suggested is very beautiful yes,
but it's too much vista for me to handle :D

Rob, Have you thought of making the buttons to be less outstanding? I would do so like here: http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/6882/buttonsun3.png
What do ya think?

Thanks man, I am amazed of your skills and harmony too. On my opinion these http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/8132/buttonpreqi0.png
standard buttons are the outstanding once and could be easily made to the style of the one I linked earlier.
-
If you modify the button (gtk-2.0/button/button-normal.png) and make it smaller a bit and merge to the color of the background (#242424) you can get the feeling that the button is actually grown out of the background like in the previous link. You need to figure out how to do, but I suppose you use GIMP and with that it takes short time to change.
-
Otherwise this theme is really awesome.

Rob.. I think the current ones are just great, they fit with the theme more..

At least; make another packet, don't just merge the old and the new together, thx ;)

Yeah, no problem :)

As I said I'm currently developing another
theme so I don't think there will be any
changes in this theme for some time..
I know there are bugs but I don't know
how to fix them (yet) so that will take some
time, please be patient!

Now there I have something to put my mind on!!!

those buttons you made really look great!

But if I change those buttons it will affect
all buttons and not just help and close as
you had marked out.

I am currently working on a completely new
theme btw. If you are interested in testing
I could mail it to you and tell me if you think
it's something worth publicing :)

Thanks for your feedback man!
You are really a great artist yourself!

When using a Gnome "main menu" instead of the traditional Gnome "menu line" (with programs/places/system) I get a black color on mouse over on "places" and "system" (See screenshot). All other menu entries work fine. I guess the theme is made for the traditional menu line, but is there a way I can solve this?

Somethings wrong... it doesn't look that
way on my comp.... I don't know... haven't
seen that one before... could you tell me
what version of gnome you are running?

I don't think that is a bug in the theme...
I have no idea on what could have caused it....

sorry I can't help you!

Thank you for your answer. You're right. It's not a bug in the theme. I found out last night, that I'm getting the same issue with some other themes. I'm not sure what's wrong. I'm using Gnome 2.22 with Mandriva 2008 spring. Anyway, it's a minor thing and your theme is very nice. :)
