A very very overglossed theme I made....
I was unsure if I wanted to release it but
I remembered some people liking my other
themes...... Whatever , go here to fix
any browser font problems (for most browsers):
http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Darkfix+%28+easy+fix+for+browsers+%29?content=74504
it works like a charm and is very easy to use!
Big thanks to code933k for making it!
package contains gtk and metacity themes
(controls and window borders)
oh, and you can tweak the colors using
gnome theme manager.
!!!!IMPORTANT!!!!!
To install:
1.Download the file to your desktop
2.Right click the file and select extract here
3.open a terminal and run this command:
sudo cp -r $HOME/Desktop/Overglossed /usr/share/themes
4.Open the theme manager, you can now
see the Overglossed theme as a theme,
when you click on it , it suggests
taners amazing wallpaper he made for this theme!!
click apply to apply the wallpaper!
the icon theme it suggests is this one:
http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/black-white+2+Style?content=72619
any problems with the install let me know!!!!
Any suggestions and feedback very welcome!
for the metacity code I used the codebase
of scaled black murrina made by twigsby.
everything else made by me from scratch.
HUGE thanks to artist taner for is exceptionally
beautiful artwork wallpaper!!!!

0.2 Changed the menubar highlight and re-made the menues (now we have overglassy menues to ;D)
0.3 You can now have white input boxes
(as shown on screenshot 3) cause I changed
some color inheritance (combobox now has
different inhertitance and cursor in
box inherits text color).
0.4 Now comes as a theme, Included taners
amazing wallpaper he provided for this theme!!!
04.08.2008 Taner made a new wallpaper,
It is absolutely fantastic! Uploaded with
that one and changed screenshots.
a HUGE thank you again Taner! You are
the best!

Just wanted to point out a few issues I have found...
When renaming a file in Gnome Nautilus 2.22.2 the font is the same color as the box, thus you cannot see what you're writing.
Also, when using VLC and trying to browse for files, you don't see the text, only when you click next to the folder icon. I'm guessing it is the same issue as above.
I hope you can fix this because I really like this theme!
Thanks for the great work

Actually , there are so many bugs in this
theme I kinda gave up trying to fix them
a long time ago :(
It would mean sitting like 24/7 trying
to fix bugs (and once you have one fixed
a new one appears).
Thanks for your interest tho!

The font is artwiz-snap.... get the
artwiz fonts here:
http://artwizaleczapka.sourceforge.net/
the compiz stuff:
in ccsm - general options - opacity
(name=gnome-panel | type=Menu | PopupMenu | DropdownMenu)
and transparency = 80
in ccsm - blur - alpha blur windows
(name=gnome-panel | name=usp | type=Menu | PopupMenu | DropdownMenu)
blur = gaussian
alpha blur = true (checked)
About conky I have no idea why it does that,
I spended several hours testing it on
my box to get it right so you probably
need completely different settings on yours :)
hope this helps!

first, great theme! It's tough to find a nice dark theme that doesn't break everything.
I wonder if you have any ideas... I have the following problems:
1) two applications I use seem to be doing the white text on white background thing: rapidsvn and the compizconfig-settings-manager ccsm. Is there any way to have these programs not use the theme? or to somehow introduce a per-application modification? This might be related to the invisible rename text thing.
2) Is there some dependency to get the blue halo around applications? I don't seem to have this.
Thanks so much,
Sandy

Yeah it's close to impossible to make a dark
theme that doesn't break anything...
That's probably why I have given up wasting
hours and hours on fixing bugs in them
and I have moved to light themes instead.
If I have some time over I will take a look
at it but I'm not making any promises.
To get the glow use emerald and the emerald theme
(download link below the normal download link)

impossible for me to fix anything :(
if someone has a fix however or wants
to further develop this theme they are
very free to do so!

I use your suggestion for the icon theme as written above and use Obsidian as cursor theme.
I have fixed the form fault also, with editing the .css file in Firefox.
But I have a problem with OpenOffice2, when I start it with the standard human theme of Ubuntu, everything works fine, but with Overglossed, I cannot read anything, and I have no idea what went wrong.
I just installed Overglossed in ~/.themes/ and not in the shared folder, but icons, and cursor theme there, no problem, but I have no idea what to do with the OpenOffice problem, I have not tested any other application yet, because this system is freshly installed. I have uploaded a screenshot,so maybe someone is able to help me:
With Human Theme: http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/6376/screenshot1ug7.png
With Overglossed Theme: http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/5865/screenshot2ff2.png

with it since he used the exact same red!

Anyways, I was just wondering if you would be able to help me do something. I'm not familiar with editing gtkrc files, and even after replacing the images in the tab folder, I can't get the tabs to be rounded, so do you think you'd be able to help me? Here's the current version of the theme: http://ryanlesterstore.googlepages.com/RYANLESTER.tar.gz

Well are you sure you have the tabs named
correctly?
Then one other thing you should check in
the code/gtkrc is how much space on the
borders is allocated and not stretched...
Look at the panel button and you see
what I mean. just check in the pixmaps
how much should be allocated (more rounding
will require more borders).
the code for borders looks like this:
example
border = { 4 , 4 , 6 , 6}
that means that 4 pixels is allocated
on the left, 4 on the right , 6 on top
and 6 on bottom.....
btw, The panel settings are in the
panel.rc file... look there for changing
panel settings.
Hope this helps!

the glow effect is cause of the emerald theme:
http://www.gnome-look.org/content/download.php?content=74813&id=2&tan=35050494
if you followed the install instructions
it should apply the wallpaper, if you installed
with theme manager then you have to manually
load it from
$HOME/.themes/Overglossed/overglossed.jpg
hope this helps!
