Description:

This is a very very black modification of
my slickness theme.
I made it cause someone here at gnome-look
asked if I could.

New feature since version 0.3:
You can now choose colors using gnome
theme manager.
It is my very first try at something like this so it might not work exactly as planned.

Feedback of any kind is always welcome :D

The gtk is excellent. As a reply for user request You made great theme.
I don't like metacity that much, I think that it is to sharp transition from darker part to lighter part on top right. I made some gaussian blur on it at home and to me it looks better after my modification.
Anyway, good job and Thank You!

i'm trying to install SlicknesS-black theme i extracted the tarball then sudo cp -r $HOME/Desktop/SlicknesS-black /usr/share/themes and sudo chmod 777 /usr/share/themes/SlicknesS-black/Slickness-black.jpg, this theme required specific icons black-white_2-Style so i downloaded them, extracted and moved the those icons to /usr/share/icons, it also asked me install ubuntulooks and some gtk+ theme engine. ubuntulooks i installed it, from gtk theme engines i installed gtk-engines 2.16.0-1 gtk-smooth-engine gtk-theme-switch 1.0.1-2 gtk-theme-switch2 2.0.5-1 gtk1-engines 0.12-1 gtk2_prefs, but still it asks me of a gtk engine. i noticed that i don't have ~/.gtkrc-2.0 so i added it with the following content http://paste.ubuntu.com/66991/ . but i still recieve a message in Apearances Preferences > Theme "This theme will not look as intended because it required GTK+ theme engine " is not installed". what could i've been missing or done wrong?

Great theme... I'm using the GTK and Emerald themes, currently.

I have one question.

What is that fractal background image in your third screenshot? It looks like something that I would like very much, but it's not included in your theme.

Thanks!

How do you get the panel that shows the system specs on the right?

Report

You need conky for that. ~$ sudo apt-get install conky

The theme's author also thankfully posted his .conkyrc file's contents in a link on the theme main page. copy and paste that into your /home/username/.conkyrc file

Ok, well I loved this theme! Thanks a lot for all the effort you put into it.. Though I wanted my perfectly round orb to fit without being clipped.. after quite a few minutes of trial and error:

(For anyone that has issues with their custom menu image being clipped)

~/.themes/SlicknesS-black/gtk-2.0/panel.rc

Changed

style "paneltogglebuttons"
{
xthickness = 4
ythickness = 4

to

style "paneltogglebuttons"
{
xthickness = 4
ythickness = 0

Again thanks, love it!
