Looks best with globalmenu!
______________________________________________

My current vision of gnome :)

I tried to create a futuristic yet simple environment to
work in.
______________________________________________

A HUGE thank you to every user who commented
here and helped me shape this!!!

info on and download the globalmenu here:
http://code.google.com/p/gnome2-globalmenu/

for a wallpaper that goes with the theme:
http://staford.deviantart.com/art/Technical-Method-5971201

I will ask artist taner if he is willing
to do a wallpaper that will be the default
wallpaper of this theme
this when he gets back in about 3-4 months
or so.

The panel is already dark :D

just haven't updated yet... I personally
think that a dark panel is better (to make
more clear that it is a panel and not
just any window), and I have always had my
panel dark so it doesn't feel right to have
a light one :)

wallpaper... well atm I think it's this
one:

I hope I have a new preview in the next
couple of days :)

yeah, f**k it, the panel stays light :)

I'm not ready to spend 27 hours a day trying
to fix stuped bugs with openoffice when
having a dark panel :)

I just made it a little different :)

What happenned to the grinded metalic look from the very 1st preview we had? Now it just look like some dark-grey to lite-grey.

Not sure what grinded metallic look you
are referring to... I have heard it looks
more metallic now!?

well, anyway, sorry if you liked the previous
look more, anyway, this is the last time
I'm doing a preview just because it's
a preview and far from final version so
many things is still about to change :)

I'll think I'm gonna lay low after releasing
this... ... you know ,summer and all :D

I really enjoy your work. I wish though, that perhaps after this one, you could make something more streamlined - with the same amount of originality you put into every theme of yours, for more of a general purpose than this machiney-ish look. This is more of a niche-thing (which I'm still going to use though. :P)

Thanks!

Glad you like my work!

However I'm not sure what you mean by streamlined?

Yeah, I'm a sucker for the futuristic
tech look, yet I have not managed to
make my box exactly the way I want (that's
probably why I keep making these themes,
but hopefully I will someday!)

Somebody actually mentioned this looked
tech-like so I guess I'm heading in the
right direction!

Thanks!

it would be nice to also have an option or maybe a theme variant with dark grey panel, matching the darkgrey on selected items or something...

thoughs???

Thanks!

Actually, as the title states , this is a
preview... so I think the first version
will have a dark panel with light text...

Maybe already in next preview the panel
will be dark :)

thoughts are good!

I want to thank you all for having so much interest
towards my work!

Thank you all for having nice things to say about
my work and having suggestions, criticism and ofc
all who pressed the good/bad button!

I will try to have some new screenshots up in the next couple of days or so....
(I'm not all happy with the theme yet, just cannot
get it to look right)

I have very little time to work on it now when summer is
coming and I'm outta work for the summer so most the
time I spend looking for a job :)

You know, these days, most of the time at least, whenever I a see a theme on the main page and am compelled to go to theme's own page, it inevitably turns out to be a theme based on NoName/Slickness or, as in this case, a new theme from TheRob himself! :D

Looks nice. I'll be waiting for the initial release.

Looks great, very professional and smooth looking. Maybe I am the only one who thinks this, but not sure about the darker grey used on the scroll bars and highlighted items, I think it should be darker, very close to black to provide more contrast, contrast is good, no? Just my 2 cents... Can't wait for the release...

It looks very promising. It is very consistent and does not resemble any existing systems.

A couple of things I would suggest:
1.the buttons and edit boxes look trapezium-shaped, I think one-pixel-wide solid border would fix this.
2. check buttons don't have the distinguish feature, when checked in (one might think they were disabled).
3. (sorry, three things) some elements are just 90-degree rotated versions of others, so lighting direction should be adjusted for them.

Anyway this theme is the best of what i have seen recently.
