Description:

Like Jet Fighters and Punching.
This release is loaded will all kinds of whoopass. This is that next level that shows why elementary is different from the competition. More and better monochromes, more and better mimetypes, more and better apps. Not to mention this release marks the start of an effort to have every icon from 16px to 128px

As always, Donations much appreciated.

Ubuntu 10.04 - GNOME

I can tell you put in a lot of good work with this icon theme. It's really good, maybe even change the name to Evolution! Best of luck with this set, I can see why its the top on Gnome-Look.

Great work on the icons! I also experience a slow performance using iconset, it takes a few seconds for the search dialog of gedit to appear. Running on a T7700 CPU with compiz disabled.

I tried to trace down system calls with strace (run "strace gedit", and then open the search dialog). It repeadedly tried to open several files (mostly in /home/andy/...), waits some time and tries again. After, say like 5, attemps, it gives up and then the dialog appears.

The SVG files contain references to files (thumbnails?) in your homedirectory, explaining why it runs fine on your own pc ;). Could you fix it?

Thanks!

oh! thanks for tracking that down for me!

I've already filed a bug and I'll try to fix it myself ASAP. But, I don't know if I will be able to as my computer took a dump on me recently.

also, just to let you know, the bugs will get fixed faster if they are filed here: http://code.google.com/p/elementary-project/issues/list

Pardon me for my utter n00bishness, but I'm clearly missing something. If I want to use any of the icons in the "Alternate_Folders" directory, where do I copy them to? Could you give me the full path? I looked under "places" and I couldn't find anything.

Thanks!

Well, I'm looking forward to the 2.0 release but do you have any plan of making .svg of the icons?

Report

C

DanRabbit

I believe that currently most of the icons are in SVG format.

But, yes, 2.0 will be almost solidly SVG with some very small exceptions.

How can I change the 'start-here' buttom. I don't like the 'e' from elementary in my start-here buttom, I like the ubuntu one. How can I change it? I've been looking for it all over the elementary folder and I've found nothing so far. Where it is?

Also, the icons of the bar (up and down) are a little bit blurry...

The 'e' icon is located in 24x24 Places. The easiest way to get the ubuntu icon is to simply copy all the ubuntu logo icons from the Human theme into the elementary theme.

There's quite a few blurry icons, actually. But elementary 2.0 is going to take care of that. I'm already finished scaling actions to 24x24 px and I'm working through all the other directories as well. You can follow my progress here: http://code.google.com/p/elementary-project/wiki/GnomeIconTheme

Your icon designs are good, but they are inconsistent, some keeps the Tango guidelines and other your own guidelines. First, you have to set your own guidelines or focus one in specific.

Second, you can't say they are inspired on Crystal when icons has not any glass effect.

Finally, SVG sizes, you should place all SVG files on Scalable, and then create PNGs file with sizes you want (16, 24, 32, 64 px, etc). I don't know why resizes SVGs one by one in 16, 24, 48 px.

Well that my recommendation as an icon developer (Crashbit Author).

These icons are in a large transitional phase. I'm working on adhering to some new guidelines right now :)

As you know, it takes a while to draw some of these things.

I think that Crystal has a lot more to offer as inspiration that simply being glassy :p

I'm trying something new with elementary. I know that I can distribute the icons as PNG's like everyone else, but I don't want to. I want elementary to be the most open icon set on gnome-look.

Just because everyone else does it, doesn't mean that's the only way it can be, my friend.

Also, I believe that my Macesque icon set was an inspiration for your icon set, no? I would like to continue to be a trend setter and do things in my own way.
